We have a permanent opportunity to work within the WorkSafe Service Industries and Specialists division based in our Cannington office.

Within the WorkSafe Group, the WorkSafe Service Industries and Specialists Directorate is responsible for work safety and health compliance in the services, retail, public sector and related industries. The directorate also provides specialist inspectors who work across industry in relation to plant, engineering, human factors, ergonomics and occupational hygiene.

The position

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out workplace inspections and taking enforcement action when health and safety laws are breached. Working with a team of inspectors, you will investigate lower complexity workplace incidents and assist in gathering evidence..

We are currently looking for a committed work health and safety professional who has knowledge and practical experience in the application of Work Health and Safety law. You will also be a good communicator who can build rapport with people in challenging and confronting situations.

This position is located in Cannington (however, you may be required to work at other sites as required), enjoy onsite lifestyle facilities, including bike lockers, fully equipped change rooms, personal lockers and a cafe.

What are we looking for?

To be considered further, please submit a detailed CV and covering letter (of no more than 2 pages) addressing the following;

  • Broad range of industry experience relevant to the role, extensive knowledge and practical experience in the application of WHS legislation including conducting inspections and investigations.
  • Experience in gathering relevant information, formulating solutions to gather and interpret data, appraise evidence and evaluate arguments.
  • Diploma or higher work health and safety qualification or equivalent relevant WHS experience.
  • Experience in developing and building rapport to gain cooperation from people in challenging and confronting situations.
