Employee Relations Manager
About the role
The ER/WHS team form an integral part of our Talent function and are responsible for providing strategy and advice nationally in the areas of Employee Relations, HR Policies, Workplace Health & Safety and Worker’s Compensation. Reporting through to our ER/WHS Director, as ER Manager you will have the opportunity to partner with Talent leads and their teams, utilising expert ER/IR knowledge to provide specialist counsel, build ER competency, and deliver sound business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Providing practical advice on employment related matters in line with company policy and legislative frameworks
- Identifying and implementing effective early intervention strategies relating to employment matters
- Supporting and leading key Employee Relations projects and initiatives
- Developing and delivering training to our Talent team
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of employment related legislation, thinking strategically on relevant application to our firm
- Ensuring business-wide compliance to our Firm’s policies and procedures and legislation
- Act as lead investigator is investigations into workplace grievances

You will be adaptable, approachable, and pragmatic in your interactions with our diverse stakeholders. With considerable ER experience you will have a keen eye for details and an intimate knowledge of the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and the Australian modern award framework. You will be able to clearly and concisely advise, coach and train your stakeholders on our approach, the Australian employment law environment and how it applies to our business operations. You will exercise discretion and confidentiality in your role and show empathy and fairness when providing your advice.
You are someone with:
- A strong ER background with an ability to think strategically and translate this into practical operational outcomes
- Experience interpreting, and advising on, modern awards
- The ability to prioritise multiple tasks from multiple sources and meet deadlines
- A ‘can-do’ attitude and a proactive approach to duties and tasks
- A passion for process simplification and continuous improvement
- Exemplary written, verbal and presentation communication skills
- The ability to identify, analyse and resolve problems
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- A collaborative and consultative approach
- Ability to think strategically and translate this into practical operational outcomes
- Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills are essential
