The opportunity
- Are you available between 10:00am and 2:30pm on most weekdays?
- Do you have a passion for food and an appreciation of scientific advancement through research?
- Join our team at CSIRO and provide valuable sensory feedback to our food scientists!
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) is Australia’s national scientific research agency. CSIRO’s sensory, flavour and consumer science expertise is unique in that it integrates flavour science, objective sensory science, and consumer acceptance & food choices. Our CSIRO ‘Food’ Program is continuously working towards improving food supply in Australia and around the world.
We are currently recruiting for approximately 10 casual positions where successful candidates will be part of a team that tastes, describes and evaluates the appearance, aroma, flavour and texture of different types of foods, beverages or prototypes. Successful candidates will be trained in evaluating products following strict scientific protocols.
Panellists will be required for a maximum of two (2) hours per day and will work on a project basis, with projects typically having a duration of 1-2 weeks. Work is on an ad-hoc basis – therefore, we do not guarantee work every day or every week. All tastings will be undertaken at the CSIRO laboratories in Werribee, VIC. As such, we prefer that candidates should be within commuting distance of this site and willing to be available at relatively short notice (i.e. 1-2 days in advance).
