As one of Australia’s largest self-insurers, Coles Team Cover manages workers compensation claims and self-insurance licences in each State & Territory in Australia for the Coles Group.

About the role

As a national team, Coles Team Cover engages and collaborates across the entire Coles family to minimise the impact of workplace injury and help ensure our Team Members come home safely every day. In unfortunate cases of workplace accident or injury, we support our Team Members in their return to work and recovery of life.

Our Insurance function is seeking a talented, passionate, and commercially focused Head of Coles Team Cover to lead a high-performance team, incorporating Claim Teams in 6 locations across Australia, and a transformation function.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting the General Manager Coles Group Treasury & Insurance, you will lead our State Managers in Workers Compensation to ensure we deliver on our business objectives and strategy.

Further, you’ll be responsible for:

• Driving the strategic agenda for Coles Team Cover, sharing effective initiatives and innovative thinking with the Group Insurance Leadership Team
• Leading a national team of approximately 70 team members, and mentoring our State Workers Compensation Managers to ensure workers compensation claims, liabilities and risks are effectively managed.
• Building strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, by understanding each Coles business and their operational needs with respect to self-insurance / workers compensation, and ensure this is understood within Coles Team Cover
• Maintain self-insurance licences in each State & Territory and strong audit results including meeting all statutory reporting and other legislative requirements

Good things you’ll need

We’re after a commercial, people focused and strategically driven professional with demonstrated experience leading national teams within the workers compensation sector and delivering on business-critical strategies.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Experience in driving organisational change and influencing key business partners
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to hold stakeholders and the business to account for delivering performance objectives
• Experience in a self-insurance environment is highly desirable
• Post graduate qualification in management and / or business is highly desirable
