About the Role
In this role, you will ensure the safe and efficient conduct of Aerodrome Operations in accordance with the BHP Aviation Management Procedure. The roles are FIFO from Perth and based at Barimunya & Coondewanna on an 8:6 roster.
Roles/responsibilities:
- Overseeing aerodrome conditions and associated maintenance of accurate and compliant records
- Conduct daily and non-routine aerodrome serviceability inspections and ARO duties as per CASA regulations
- Supervising aerodrome remedial works (Works Safety Officer Duties)
- Transmission of Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to Air services
- Management of flight line operations including aircraft marshalling, refuelling, fuel qualify control, baggage handling, passenger control and aerodrome traffic scheduling
- Delivery of airport Terminal Operations - passenger check-in (Sabre, Amadeus, IFIDS, Avantik, FMMA, Icargo), radio calls and completion of flight manifests, load sheets, operational liaison with aircraft crew and staff from both mine and aircraft operations.
- Understanding and management of the BHP Material Risk for Aviation by active Field Leadership through CCOs, PTCs & TTTs
- Aerodrome Maintenance – Line Marking, Slashing/Mowing/Brush Cutting/Pruning, RWY & Apron Sweeping, Weed Management, minor fence repairs, etc.
- Daily & Weekly GSE Checks/Minor Maintenance
- Daily & Weekly Housekeeping duties (Terminal, Offices, storerooms, containers, inventory checks, Carpark, etc.
- Conduct Airport Inductions for contractors, new staff and visitors.
- Airport Emergency Response – participate in aerodrome emergency response training with a focus on aviation emergency response.
- Airport Security – awareness of dangerous goods screening and airport security requirements
- Managing dangerous goods movements
About You
We are looking for adaptable, positive, team orientated individuals who are interested in learning something new every day. As a Trainee Aerodrome Reporting Officer you will learn to operate within Safe Work practices.

- The ability to maintain high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with specific tasks and procedures
- Able to be decisive and autonomous, be prepared to stop if instructions are unclear and have the confidence to make those decisions instantly
- A friendly and collaborative approach to colleagues and customers
- Committed and reliable, keeping up with training whilst fulfilling operational requirements
- Current West Australian C Class manual driver’s license.
- Computer literacy would be advantageous
