About the Role

This position will be Perth based with fly-in fly-out (FIFO) travel to various WAIO locations in the Pilbara and report to the Superintendent Health & Hygiene. A conversation on flexible work options is encouraged and will be considered.

In this role you will:

  • Set strategic direction on occupational hygiene related initiatives or hygiene risk management
  • Provide subject matter expertise, leadership and coaching to operations on occupational hygiene risks management and regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend exposure reduction options and develop robust occupation exposure reduction plans
  • Oversee the occupational hygiene monitoring program as per the health management plan including implementation of real time monitoring across our operations.
  • Accountable for reporting of occupational hygiene statistics and performance and ensuring quality of hygiene data
  • Be responsible for identifying and delivering improvement projects or initiatives to meet internal and external requirements
  • Contribute to the development of our hygiene team members and build hygiene capability in the wider HSE team and line workforce.

About You

This role will suit an experienced Occupational Hygiene professional with a genuine desire to support positive health and wellbeing outcomes of our most important asset – our people. You will also be motivated by a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to problem solve and drive positive change.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or similar with previous experience (10 years +) in mining or resources
  • High level of technical and practical skills in Occupational Hygiene with demonstrated experience in development and implementation of exposure reduction strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, coach and influence multiple stakeholders at varying levels of the organisation on occupational hygiene related initiatives or matters
  • Previous experience with Cority is desirable.
  • Full AIOH Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists (AIOH) membership is required with Certified Occupational Hygienist (COH) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the WA mining health and safety legislation is required
