About the Role

This role provides support and Employee Relations advice for BHP’s Major Projects functions, including core elements and inputs into contractor management for the contractor workforce that operates on our sites.

  • Contribute to the formulation of the Employee Relations Strategy for WA Major Projects and recommend modifications from a risk-informed perspective.
  • Provide governance over contractor partners from an employee relations perspective to mitigate employee relations risk
  • Work with internal stakeholders, including Project Managers and the Commercial function, to mitigate employee relations risk
  • Advise and train Project professionals and leaders on regulatory requirements, policies, legislation and best practices
  • Audit contracting partners to ensure they are meeting their commercial obligations
  • Oversee union right of entry processes
  • Implement initiatives to ensure appropriate labour sourcing and availability for contracting partners
  • Provide expert advice to all levels of management on the proper handling of workplace issues including terminations, discipline, and disputes to ensure timely resolution
  • Utilise the risk framework to manage existing and impending risks
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in workplace investigation cases assigned to ER according to our general framework
  • Work as part of a broader global Employee Relations sub-function within the Human Resources function in a high trust, collaborative and flexible environment.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree in a human resources-related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience in contactor management from an employee relations perspective
  • Sound commercial acumen in order to identify and mitigate commercial-related employee relations risks
  • Stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Experience in major capital projects (ideally during study and execution phases)
  • Mining, Heavy Industry and/or Oil and Gas experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Australian industrial relations system and legislation, including keeping up to date with developments in IR reform and case law
