About the Role
This Specialist role is required to deliver environmental functional expertise for Olympic Dam to successfully meet environmental regulatory and reporting requirements to enable business continuity and maintain our Licence to Operate. Key to this role will be providing specialist advice on environmental regulatory matters, carrying out the practical field work components of the Environment Management System, and engaging and supporting line management for environment risk assessments, event investigation, field leadership and compliance.
The position is regionally based in South Australia supporting our Olympic Dam operation on a 7/7 roster. FIFO, DIDO and residential options will be considered.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Provide specialist advice on environmental and regulatory licencing requirements to operational personnel
- Manage, maintain and update GIS data when required.
- Collection and delivery of accurate and transparent data
- Compile supporting documentation for internal and external reports and regulatory approvals to support the Business Plan.
- Analyse environmental data and processes to identify and improve systems, process and procedures for site personnel.
- Participate in projects and key tasks as directed by your line manager or delegate.
- Undertake assigned tasks in accordance with 1SAP Work Management process
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Participate in workplace investigations as required.
- Maintain strong working relationship with relevant external and internal stakeholders to achieve required environmental outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Commitment to adhere to and demonstrate BHP Charter Values.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Professional experience in environmental science/management related work
- Ability to analyse environmental data
- Proficiency in the use of ESRI ArcGIS and spatial data management will be highly regarded.
