Our Operations
One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities. The Olympic Dam Mine itself is one of Australia’s premier underground operations with unique scale, complexity and an exciting growth pathway. This is an Olympic Dam based position (flexible roster) with FIFO or residential options available.
About the Role
The Manager Mine Operational Services, provides leadership and drives direction to achieve Health, Safety and Environment, cost and volume performance by delivering effective execution of mine services activities. Mine Operational Services provides a critical supporting and enabling function across all mine operational and maintenance areas and therefore is key for maintaining operating stability.

In this role you will:
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a Culture of Care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team
- Play an active sponsor and leadership role in overall Cultural improvement for the Olympic Dam Mine and Asset.
- Lead consistently against the Olympic Dam core safety behaviours
- Have accountability for all underground Mine Services activities (ventilation infrastructure, backfill barricades, dewatering management, services extensions) in support of Mining activities (35-55kmpa of mine development, 16 kmpa diamond drilling, 2.4Mm3 CAF placement, 13Mtpa total material movement)
- Play a key role in implementing Underground Paste filling within 3 years and other critical mine infrastructure as we continue to expand our footprint into the Southern Mining Area
- Own the delivery of substantial diamond drilling execution activities enabling both Southern Mining Area establishment and for future mining within Olympic Dam Deeps. This includes accountability as Contract Owner for a large Service Contract.
- Provide input to 5-Year Plan objectives and budget, driving performance and implementation accordingly.
- Drive the consistent expectations, understanding and application of Mine Services processes to enable compliance with Group Level Documents and local requirements
- Own the material Risk Profile for Mine Services and verifies material risk critical controls are appropriately designed, deployed and effective
- Approve the portfolio of Mine Services function improvement initiatives ensuring alignment with Corporation Alignment Planning
About You
- Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline is preferred
- Experience in underground operations (First Class Managers Ticket will be highly regarded)
- Sound understanding of Contractor Management
- Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with advanced problem-solving skills
- Highly influential with strong engagement skills to generate ideas and lateral solutions
- Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
- A proven ability to effectively manage and engage with a large and diverse work group, support and promote a culture where it is Safe to Speak Up
