About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Major Projects WA and as a member of this Project Leadership Team, the Manager Project will provide leadership, management expertise and direction to the fully lifecycle of a large Major Project across BHP’s Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) or Nickel West (NiW) Operations.
Your immediate team will include a diverse group of Project Studies and Project Delivery Managers, Leads, Principals and Specialists. Critical to the role will be strong stakeholder management skills, ensuring success for the whole WAIO or NiW teams in operations and projects.
This is a Perth based role with travel to site as required.
In this role you will:
- Maximise value through lowest operating cost, astute capital deployment and efficient delivery project outcomes
- Develop and implement effective communication processes to support project and operational outcomes
- Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure
- Manages contract execution and analysis to maximise operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk
- Explores and iteratively reassesses the best fit solutions, takes ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitors and manages impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g. social, environmental, commercial
- Develop and implement project delivery strategies to manage health, safety and business risks
- Develop and implement effective communication processes to support project and operational outcomes
- Drive best value decision making to ensure the project moves forward, minimising delays and setbacks in the drive to attain the Project KPI’s
- Maintain strong and transparent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About You
- Large-scale / mega-project Project Management experience (US$1B +)
- Degree qualified in Engineering or an aligned discipline
- Mining industry operational, construction, project and business case development
- Owners team leadership
- Proven, successful full life-cycle delivery of large multi-disciplinary projects in a complex brownfield environment
- Team leadership and influential management
- Working using a range of study / project delivery models
- Driving a study / project to a successful conclusion
- Highly influential with strong engagement skills to generate ideas and lateral solutions
- Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
