About the Role
The BHP Iron Ore Rail Operations team are thinking big for the future of Heavy Haul Train Driving in WA.
We have developed an initiative that will change the way we recruit and train locomotive drivers into the future of Rail and BHP, enabling our experienced professional team to pass on their pride, passion and performance to a new cohort of train drivers.
The Rail Operations Trainee Program is your opportunity to follow an intensive course to learn our safety systems, how we operate, and the skills required to become a qualified shunter. The course then progresses onto a driver training program that will see you pass-out as a qualified heavy haul train driver on completion.
Trainees will utilise new technology, virtual reality, and hands on scenarios to accelerate their learning in a program more ambitious than anything we have done previously in Rail. This trainee pipeline enables candidates new to the industry to develop a career that will support their development and families for decades.
You will work alongside a supportive team, interface with Shunters, Drivers and Trainers in a new training centre on site in Port Hedland. With periods in our Perth office to be trained on other facets of our business.
Reporting to one of our Training Supervisors, the role will be challenging, the course will require focus and confidence.
