About the Role
BMA - Our Operations
Queensland Coal comprises the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) and BHP Mitsui Coal (BMC) assets in the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, Australia.
BMA is Australia’s largest coal producer and supplier of seaborne metallurgical coal. BMA is owned 50:50 by BHP and Mitsubishi Development. BMA operates seven Bowen Basin mines (Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia, Peak Downs, Saraji, Blackwater and Caval Ridge) and owns and operates the Hay Point Coal Terminal near Mackay.
About the role
As an engineering function across all our BMA Mines, Port & Rail we are able to play a critical role in ensuring safety and stability of each Operation. The engineering function is responsible for managing the capital portfolio, governing and protecting the integrity of assets across all BMA Operations.
We now have exciting opportunities to join our team as a BMA Electrical Engineering Manager (EEM) at one of our Mines in the Bowen Basin. You will play a key role in coaching and influencing our key stakeholders to adhere to our obligation under the Coal Mining Safety and Health Regulation (CMS&HR) ensuring the electrical safety of the mine.
In this role you will also be responsible for:
- Control and manage the following in our BMA operations
(a) the design of electrical installations;
(b) the installation & maintenance of electrical equipment & electrical installations;
(c) electrical work;
(d) work carried out close to electrical installations.
- Ensure the design, installation & maintenance of electrical equipment & installations at the mine fully complies with company standards, SHMS & the CMH&SR;
- Manage the records of electrical installations, commissioning procedures & records, authorised electrical persons & authorised people to enter electrical areas;
- Coordinate the continuous improvement projects aligning with site operational requirements and/or legislative changes.
About You
You will have tertiary qualifications Electrical Engineer, Surface Electrical Engineering Manager (EEM) qualifications and experience in above ground mining operations. Your focus on value based decision-making, project management skills, strong leadership capability and exposure will see you succeed while your current experience and understanding of the legislation will be essential.
Your superior stakeholder engagement will foster collaborative working relationships across our operation and function teams. You will have knowledge to apply critical thinking to the development and the ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organisational levels to create buy-in and influence outcomes. You will have demonstrated leadership capability, and the strong interpersonal skills to engage and listen to the diverse range of stakeholders within our business.
