Job Description

As an Occupational Health & Hygiene Technician, your primary role is to support the Nickel West Northern Operations to monitor and protect the health of our workforce, through delivering the site personal exposure monitoring program and assisting with the execution of health surveillance programs. This role has full accountability for executing personal hygiene monitoring and works with the onsite Occupational Health Specialist team to deliver the audiometric and spirometry based Health Surveillance Program. This role supports both mining (Surface and Underground) and Processing Operations. Flying in and out of our Leinster operation and reporting to the Hygiene Supervisor. This role operates as part of a site based HSE team, existing on a (FIFO) 5/3, 4/2 roster.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Delivering the personal exposure monitoring program, consistent with the site Health Hygiene Management Plan, which includes real-time monitors
  • Contributing to the execution of the site Health Surveillance program, through executing spirometry and audiometric assessment as per the site Health Surveillance schedule.
  • Conducting 3M Earplug Fit Testing and Respirator Fit Tests
  • Managing health and hygiene data using Cority and Safety Regulation System
  • Promoting and providing technical expertise to support the design and implementation of hygiene risk control improvements

Skills and Other Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently but effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Experience with Cority (formerly Medgate) would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience with DMIRS Safety Regulation Safety (SRS) would be desirable but not essential
  • Experience conducting earplug fit tests using 3M EarFit, and respirator fit tests (both Portacount and/or 3M Qualitative Hood Fit Testing)
  • Possess current WA drivers licence.
