Your new role:
BAE Systems Australia are the Managing Contractor (MC) within the Destroyer Enterprise. As an Engineering Change Officer within the MC Engineering team, you'll be working on coordinating the delivery and technical review of crucial upgrades to the Royal Australian Navy's state-of-the-art Air Warfare Destroyers as they transition from Acquisition into Sustainment. You'll work alongside the Destroyer Enterprise partners in delivering upgrades and updates on the diverse systems within your sub-domain and drive the systems engineering process through both sides of the “V”.
This opportunity will see you:
- Act as an integrated member of the MC Engineering team and provide technical and project management leadership and oversight within your sub-domain,
- Develop a thorough understanding of both ship and shore systems within your sub-domain,
- Work towards and obtain a technical delegation, allowing you to approve designs and technical information within the DDGSPO technical delegation framework,
- Attend/Conduct project meetings, design reviews and peer reviews as required.
- Ensure that all documents and artefacts are completed, reviewed and managed and within appropriate standard procedures and the defined work instructions,
- Contribute to the project controls (schedule and budget development and tracking) and project management of Engineering Change activities within your sub-domain.
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Worked as a senior-engineer, have experience managing projects and people and have undertaken design review over oversight activities throughout the systems engineering process,
- The ability to communicate and operate effectively within a dynamic, challenging environment where managing conflicting stakeholder requirements are BAU,
- A passion to drive the Destroyer Enterprise values (Respect, Openness, Teamwork & Professionalism), to support your team members and to positively contribute to the Culture within the Destroyer Enterprise,
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Essential),
- NV1 security clearance, or eligibility to obtain NV1 clearance (Essential)
- The ability to be cleared to handle Export Controlled information (ITAR, EAR etc) (Essential),
- Experience in defence is an advantage but not essential.

Hull & Structures:

Structural analysis:

Structural Design and Fluid Dynamics (CAD/FEA/CFD);

Derivation of design loads;

Design of structures to static, shock, vibration and fatigue requirements;

Material Selection and processes (machining, welding, fabrication, finishing and corrosion protection);
-
Acoustic analysis and the development of rectification solutions.

Maritime System Structural Design and Sustainment:

Ship stability (manoeuvring analysis and inclining);

Margin Management (weight, moment control);
-
Launching calculations;
-
Docking calculations;
-
Sea trials analysis.

Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
