Your new role

The Cloud Engineering Lead is responsible for providing cloud infrastructure services and maintaining the Azure platform for Australian Super business functions. The role will have a focus on continuous improvement of the Azure platform, and respective IaC code and DevOps organization. As a senior cloud SME, this role will act as the Azure authority of knowledge in the team and will provide technical leadership to team members and vendor engineering teams.

This role is accountable for developing and reviewing high level and detailed design documents, ensuring that our designs enable a scalable, resilient cloud platform, as well as ensuring that projects are properly implemented and the Azure cloud platform is configured and managed in accordance with best practice.

Some key tasks but not limited to:

• Provide technical leadership and ensure alignment of cloud solutions to target architecture, standards, and best practices
• Develop, run and report on a Continuous Improvement program with a focus towards automation utilising DevOps
• Develop, deploy, and configure workloads to Microsoft Azure using Terraform in a DevOps environment
• Contribute to recommendations on platform architecture decisions
• Provide cloud SME consultancy services to projects and initiatives where required

What you'll need

We are looking for leaders who are technically forward thinking and excited about utilizing cloud native services and automating everything. In addition, you will bring:

• 10 years' experience working in medium to large enterprise IT environments
• 4 years' experience working with Azure Public Cloud services designing and building cloud solutions using IaaS and PaaS services
• Experience developing a DevOps or DevSecOps strategy
• Hands on experience deploying applications and building infrastructure in cloud via Azure DevOps CI/CD deployment pipelines
• Deep understanding of IaaS, PaaS offerings from Azure and how application vendors leverage the platform for hosting of their own products/services
• Intermediate coding skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar
• Hands on experience with Infrastructure as Code and provisioning resources using Terraform, ARM templates and Bicep
• Knowledge of container frameworks, Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS experience
• Deep knowledge of running IaaS workloads and design/operation of Azure Backup and Azure Monitor
• Expert knowledge of IAM including Azure AD, ADFS, SSO and Modern Authentication
• Knowledge of Azure Policies
• Application development experience and knowledge of software development lifecycle is desirable.
