We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us as Trainee Asset Inspectors across our AusNet distribution locations from Thomastown to Cranbourne and everything in between.


As a Trainee Asset Inspector, you will have the unique opportunity to kickstart your career in the renewable energy industry. You will receive comprehensive training and hands-on experience in providing technical asset inspection services.

Picture yourself working alongside experienced professionals, learning cutting-edge techniques, and playing a crucial role in maintaining our electrical distribution network.


This role will report to the Team Leader and is predominantly a mobile role which will travel to South Morang, Epping and Thomastown locations with occasional travel to our Lilydale office.

What you will deliver

  • Learn and apply the Asset Inspection Manual and other relevant documentation to conduct accurate asset inspections.
  • Assist in conducting detailed examinations of distribution and sub transmission overhead line systems, including the testing of wood poles.
  • Report any maintenance requirements for components, features, or assets with precision.
  • Capture digital photographs of assets in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support specified preservative treatments and perform minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment, vehicles, plants, and materials are well-maintained and in good working order.
  • Actively participate in developing improved asset inspection methods.

  • Please note that travel to various locations across Victoria is required.
