Your role at Ausgrid

The Control Room is an integral part of the Field Operations group within Ausgrid. The prime focus of the Field Operations group is to ensure safe and efficient delivery of services required to build and maintain the Ausgrid network, connect customers and respond to unplanned outages and incidents

Reporting to the Supervisory System Operator the Control Room Operator (Area Operator) works with a team of operators and is responsible for providing access to the network as well as ensuring that the network remains safe and reliable for our customers.

The Control Room Operator undertakes coordination of asset and field resource utilisation for planned works and network emergencies, switching operations, both remotely utilising SCADA, and through field-based operators, and management of incidents within an assigned area.


What we are looking for

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role within another DNSP/TNSP. Holds a minimum Cert III in Electrotechnology, Class 1 Unlimited or Class 6 Operating Authority, coupled with extensive experience in the operation of the interconnected transmission and distribution supply network.

You are someone who has strong resilience, who can operate autonomously with the ability to make clear decisions. You can perform under pressure in emergency situations, multitask and prioritise workloads. We need someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, is open to learning and can work a reasonable amount of overtime as required.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse fault indications and to interpret signals and alarms
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience in a variety of software packages, tools or general applications
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating with others
  • Proven capability to work effectively within a team or work crew
  • Previous experience with Advanced Distributed Management Systems (ADMS) is highly regard, however not essential.
