Your role at Ausgrid

Our Health and Safety Group is focused on:

  • Protecting the safety of our employees, contractors and communities so that everyone acts, feels and is safe in line with our value Work Safe, Live Safe.
  • Achieving health and safety excellence by simplifying our safety processes, being tech-enabled, trained and capable.
  • Integrating health and safety into our wider business processes, establishing shared leadership behaviours and developing a prevention way of thinking, including risk identification and control.

Reporting to the Manager – Health & Safety, the Health & Safety Advisor supports and partners with key stakeholders and leaders throughout the organisation to effectively deliver the organisation’s Health & Safety Strategy. The Health & Safety Advisor follows the Ausgrid values in everything they do. You will Lead by example in all our work activities, by incorporating ‘Work Safe, Live Safe’ values into all applicable processes, standards and activities, to drive continual improvement.

Success Profile

We are looking for a proactive safety leader, who embodies and values safety. The successful candidate will hold min Cert IV in H&S or relevant trade qualification who has experience as a Health & Safety Professional in high-risk industries. You will have proven expertise in delivering quality safety outcomes that drives our values with comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety methodologies and work practices in complex environments.

  • Sound working understanding and application of relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a proven ability to effectively consult and communicate, both verbally and written, on H&S matters with all levels of the organisation
  • Proven competency in applying a risk-based approach that focuses on H&S risks, in particular critical risks, being controlled so far as is reasonably practicable (SFAIRP)
  • Experience in applying a positive approach when interacting with management and workers, to influence and coach effectively to focus on what is most important
  • Experience in undertaking high quality incident investigations utilising methodologies such as ‘Timeline and Five Whys’ and Incident Casual Analysis Method (ICAM)
