Our Coal Business unit is offering enthusiastic safety orientated people the opportunity to change careers and join the rail industry as a locomotive driver. To excel in this position you will relish the opportunity to learn new skills and put into practice what you are taught in the classroom to become a professional train operator. All of the training is conducted in-house by industry leaders who are dedicated to training our future train drivers.

About the role:

• Undertake Locomotive driver training and successfully complete modules within the specified timeframe
• Perform duties as required according to skill, competence and training
• Gain a working knowledge of train operations including the principles of safeworking:
• Apply theoretical knowledge from training to practical operation in an operational environment
• These position are not offered on a FIFO/DIDO basis .
• Aurizon will supply a housing subsidy or possibly shared housing options for those at Bluff & Coppabella depots only.

About You:

• Ability to work shift work (24/7) various start times throughout roster cycle, rotating over 365 days a year including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to undertake intensive training which could be held at an alternative location
• Willingness and ability to undertake classroom and on-track competencies to operate locomotives
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks
• Professional and dedicated employee who is committed to becoming a valued employee
• Open drivers licence

Our Recruitment Process:

• Onsite testing/Assessment Centre
• Interview
• Cat 1 rail medical/ fitness test
• Traffic history infringement check
• 5 years reference checking
