About the role

In this role, you will support the team in developing communications and executing engagements that build Ampol’s reputation with government, industry and other external stakeholders.

The role cover policy analysis and preparation of submissions and advice on areas of public policy impacting Ampol’s business. The role will also support engagement with local, state and federal politicians, and support the development of other written materials, including reports, speeches and other briefing documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and prepare submissions, briefing documents and other external communications to support advocacy on political and/or regulatory issues.
  • Maintain strong relationships to facilitate understanding of the political and regulatory environment, operational issues and to ensure effective communications.
  • Provide regular reporting to the team on current and emerging public policy issues and to build awareness of the policy environment among senior leaders.
  • Support the team in developing speeches for executives, engagement briefing notes, preparation of meetings and other written documents to support the broader function.

About you

You will join a team who share an interest in government affairs and politics. You will be a self- starter and bring well developed interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to build strong relationships both internally and externally.

Key skills and experience

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Knowledgeable and interest in policy and government affairs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including attention to detail
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite
