Position on offer:

As a Trades Assistant you will be required to assist Trade employees with various duties and maintenance work on the vehicles, with the aim of ensuring the fleet is running efficiently, safely, and abiding by relevant industry standards.

Multiple positions on offer across Day Shift (6am – 5pm) and Night Shift (6pm – 5am) on a rotational roster, including weekends.

  • Carrying out a range of general support tasks, in order to assist with the servicing, testing, repair, overhaul or modification of rail vehicles and their various components (both in and around the body of the vehicle);
  • Carrying out general duties required by their immediate supervisor or the trades person they you are assisting;
  • Perform and be responsible for general housekeeping and cleaning tasks;
  • Comply with OH&S legislative, company policy and procedure requirements;
  • Be a ‘self-starter’ and work independently and proactively within a team environment
  • Other requirements as directed by their immediate supervisor / manager.

    To be successful for this role you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience within a similar role – preferably within Rail
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete work to a high quality standard;
  • Able to follow instructions and be prepared to undertake other duties if and when required;
  • Able to work according to the roster arrangements, which includes weekend and public holiday work when required;
  • Able to undertake a variety of activities that may involve a degree of physical labour;
  • Willing to undertake further training to achieve additional qualifications if required.
