About the Role:
An exceptional opportunity exists for a highly skilled Senior Financial Accountant with a passion for compliance and complex analysis to join our team located at our HQ in Booragoon!
As our Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Alcoa’s compliance with statutory accounting and corporate requirements and the provision of timely analysis and interpretation of financial data into the global system. You will provide specialist expertise including reviewing significant transactions and new ventures and further contribute to the wider business by:
Co-ordinating all USGAAP adjustments including adjustments associated with asset retirement obligations (ARO), pensions and Share based Payments.
Overseeing the integrity of the ARO, Embedded Derivatives and Share Based Payment Models and monitoring all pension adjustments for compliance under Australian International Financial Reporting Standards (AIFRS) and USGAAP.
Reviewing key contracts and the preparation of position papers for a broad range of accounting related issues.
Leading a small team, managing their performance and supporting their capability development.
Provide business advice and accounting support for new technology projects and ventures.
Primary contact in relation to internal controls in relation to general ledger and other areas of the business under scope (Pensions and ARO’s).
Accounting and ledger reconciliations/reviews and ASAT and supporting with ad-hoc project related reporting.

What you can bring to the role:
Bachelor of Finance / Accounting coupled with a CPA / CA equivalent designation.
Previous experience working at a Big 4 or large mid-tier accounting firm.
Relevant experience within a similar role and industry is highly desirable but not required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to use your initiative and problem solve.
Strong analytical skills and experience in applying these to various business scenarios as well as advanced excel skills.
An ability to work in teams collaboratively and interact effectively with local and overseas finance teams.
Your ability to motivate and empower others to deliver on common goals and tight timeframes.
