About the job

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic, driven, team-orientated, and motivated Auto Electricians to join our mining operations located south of Perth in the Peel region.

Perhaps you’re currently working FIFO and want to work locally and still utilise your mining experience? We have opportunities now and in the future for permanent contracts or to be a part of our Talent Pool. Current vacancies are on a shift roster (5 days on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off – 10.3 hours per day).

We know as an Auto Electrician your strengths lie in your attention to detail and your technical capability. You are passionate about resolving problems back to root cause and your tenacity to tackle complex automotive electrical issues is what drives you! We want you to bring those skills to enhance our team. A dual trade will be highly desirable, including working knowledge on light and heavy mobile mining equipment.

Daily tasks will include:

  • Diagnostics and repairs in both a field service and workshop environment across light vehicles and trucks, drilling rigs and Caterpillar and Komatsu heavy moving equipment

  • The use of OEM diagnostic tooling for fault finding and assisting others

  • Conducting air-conditioning diagnostic repairs and service

  • Installing fleet management technologies including high precision GPS and collision avoidance systems

  • Work autonomously and in a coaching role with mechanics when required

  • When not performing electrical work you will be required to assist with mechanical maintenance across Alcoa’s mobile mining equipment fleet including Caterpillar and Komatsu heavy earth moving equipment

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are looking for someone with:

  • Cert III in Automotive Electrical Technology or be a qualified High Voltage Electrician with mobile equipment experience

  • Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology

  • Interpretation of auto electrical schematics

  • Understanding of software programs including SIS, VIMS, CAT ET

  • Well-developed communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimum supervision and self-manage conflicting priorities

  • Self-motivation to complete work tasks to a high standard

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic team environment with others of diverse skill-sets

  • Strong commitment to safety

  • WA C Class manual drivers licence

In addition to this, it is desirable for you to have:

  • Current Refrigerant Handling licence

  • Dual trade in Mechanical and Auto-Electrical
