If the job is unfamiliar, here are a few of the duties and the expectations of a Refinery Production Operator day to day:
Staring daily with a toolbox meeting where you discuss safety, priorities for the day and your work tasks are allocated.
Working daily with your crew to be accountable for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of your area and the equipment within it.
Collecting process samples for the lab to analyse and cleaning up areas with a high-pressure hose
Undertaking area inspections to ensure there are no safety hazards in the area.
Performing routines which may include manually lubricating, opening and closing valves with a sledgehammer
Buddying up and training other new starters as you become familiar with the process
Throughout all these tasks you will be supported and mentored on the job by experienced operators as you learn the ropes. There is room to grow and take on extra responsibilities as you develop; our crew members are safety reps, assessors, fire crew to name a few.
In accordance with our current WA Operations AWU Enterprise Agreement our starting salary on a 9 day fortnight in these opportunities is $70,851 plus 14% super working a 36-hour week Monday - Friday. Shift allowances are applicable if you are on one of the 10.3-hour or 12-hour rosters.

IMPORTANT COVID INFORMATION
WA State Government Directions
On 2 November 2021 the WA State Government issued the Resources Industry Workers (Restrictions on Access) Directions (Directions). Under the Public Health Act 2016 (WA), the Directions are legally binding and Alcoa must comply.
These Directions prevent “a person who is a resources industry worker from entering a rural or remote resources industry site or remote operating centre if they have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.” The Huntly and Willowdale mines, the Wagerup refinery, and the Pinjarra refinery including the Pinjarra Hub are covered by the Directions.
This will mean employees and contractors at Huntly and Willowdale mines, Pinjarra (including the Hub) and Wagerup are required to be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022.
Alcoa is required to collect and maintain your vaccination status
Please note that if you are progressed to an interview for this role you will be asked to provide proof of COVID vaccination or confirmed vaccination appointment.
Alcoa employee’s proof of vaccination is managed internally through our medical centres.
