About the role
The New Business Manager plays a crucial role in driving AGL’s customer growth strategy, sitting within the Acquisition Marketing & Growth team. This team is responsible for acquiring high-value, profitable customers through innovative, data-drive, and customer-centric strategies. By identifying, assessing, and developing new business opportunities, the New Business Manager directly contributes to sustainable revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term business success. As a New Business Manager, you will lead the end-to-end process of identifying, evaluating, and implementing new business opportunities. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Procurement, Legal, Sales, and Compliance to ensure seamless execution of new opportunities while continuously optimizing business performance.
What you will be doing:
Market Analysis & Planning – Identify emerging industry trends, customer behaviors, and competitor strategies to uncover new growth opportunities.
Opportunity Identification & Development – Assess and priorities high-value business opportunities based on market potential and strategic fit.
Business Case Development – Build and present compelling business cases, demonstrating clear ROI and alignment with AGL’s Consumer Growth objectives.
Commercial Negotiations – Lead negotiations on commercial models, contracts, and commission structures to maximize profitability and market position.
New business onboarding - oversee the end-to-end onboarding process, ensuring seamless integration, compliance adherence, accurate reporting, and marketing support.
Performance Tracking & Optimization – Define key success metrics, track commercial performance, and continuously refine strategies for sustainable growth.
What we would like to see you bring:
Seasoned experience in sales, business development, or commercial management, ideally in the energy or consumer services sectors.
Proven track record in identifying and executing strategic growth opportunities and commercial m
Strong leadership in cross-functional teams, stakeholder engagement, and high-value negotiations.
Skilled in developing business cases, influencing decision-makers, and delivering measurable results.
Deep understanding of the energy sector and service industry, both locally and internationally.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing multiple initiatives, and adapting to varied sales cycles.
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, or related fields (preferred but not essential).
