The Project
ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel - Stage 2, Sydney's third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.
Project scope includes:
- Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
- Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
- Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

Specific Tasks Include
- Oversee project planning and execution for a TBM construction project.
- Provide technical expertise in tunnelling methods and Road Headers operations.
- Implement quality control and assurance processes to ensure project compliance.
- Lead and collaborate with project team members and stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risks throughout the construction project.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in tunnel construction, excavation methods, Road Headers and TBM.
- Proficient in planning, organizing, and coordinating excavation activities within project timelines and budget constraints.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with contractors, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring clear coordination and successful project outcomes.
- Prioritize and enforce safety protocols, maintaining a safe working environment for all project personnel.
